CCA Honors Two Steadfast Industry Leaders with CCA Honorary Lifetime Membership

ARVADA, Colo – On Tuesday evening, June 22nd during the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) Annual Convention “Cattlemen’s Night Out” banquet, awards were presented to individuals who have made a significant impact on the industry. Of these award winners were two CCA Honorary Lifetime Members, which is the highest honor given by CCA to those who go above and beyond in their roles in the industry to give back to not only the association, but the broader agricultural community.

Dr. Keith Roehr, 2021 CCA Honorary Lifetime Member

In March of 1995, after working in private veterinary practice for 14 years, Dr. Roehr began the second part of his career journey with the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) and has been with CDA for the last 26 years. CCA takes great pride in our relationships throughout time with the State Veterinarians who have served the livestock industry, and Dr. Roehr has been at the top of that legacy of State Veterinarians. Dr. Roehr has led the industry through difficult disease issues, natural disasters, and planning that has mitigated many pitfalls for livestock producers. Not all issues have been easy, as CCA and Keith have worked closely on animal welfare issues that have protected animals through responsible engagement up and through the courts.

Due to his commitment to his work, the people and animals of Colorado have been better protected and will be better served into the future. Beyond his work at the CDA, Dr. Roehr has been a go-to resource for CCA's Animal Health Committee and any other inquiries related to animal health. CCA offers our sincere thanks to Dr. Roehr for his public service, friendship, and dedication to the industry and we look forward to his continued active participation in CCA.

Danny Williams, 2021 CCA Honorary Lifetime Member

Danny started in agriculture, on Williams Ranch in Eagle, Colo. Danny took over the ranch where he successfully raised cattle and sheep until 1986. Danny also pursued a notable public service career, being elected to two terms as Eagle County Commissioner starting in 1976, then on to the Colorado State House for four terms beginning in 1984. In 1993, Danny began a government relations consulting business, Williams + Simpson. During his thirty-five plus years of legislative, state, and local government experience; he has become revered and highly respected for his knowledge, intellect, fervor, and passion for the agriculture industry in the state. Danny also assisted in mentoring a number of interns for CCA, including our current day lobbyist, Landon Gates.

Although adverse to the limelight, Danny was recognized as Outstanding Legislator of the Year by not only the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Colorado Farm Bureau, and the Colorado Rural Electric Association; but also entities such as the Colorado Education Association, Ski Country USA, and the Colorado Mining Association, to name just a few. He also served the industry as a Board of Trustee member of the National Western Stock Show Association.

CCA extends our heartfelt gratitude to Danny for his steadfast commitment not just as a legislator, but to the agricultural community as a whole, specifically CCA. We appreciate Danny’s continued support as a key advisor to the association and thank him for his advice and service.
