CCA members
get a return on their investment...
Government Representation in Denver and Washington D.C.:
Cattlemen are represented in the political and legislative arena in both Denver and
Washington D.C. CCA ensures that cattlemen have a voice on such immediate issues as
public lands, wildlife, and water rights.
CCA keeps the interests of rural Colorado before
a legislature and Congress dominated by urban representatives. CCA also supports its
members rights as private land and water owners against claims of access and egress.
A Source of Information: CCA keeps its
members on top of industry news and information through its monthly Cattle Guard
magazine and annual meetings. CCA also helps defend members against false claims by
environmental extremists, as well as animal rights and consumer activists.
Issues Management: Each local CCA affiliate
appoints two members to each of CCA's 19 committees. CCAs committees meet
throughout the year to develop association policy on issues affecting agriculture. These
include: taxation, water, brand and theft, marketing, wildlife, research,
federal/state/private lands, animal health, range improvement, and more.
Members are encouraged to participate in any or all of CCAs
standing committees. In an effort to dispel myths, CCA also works to provide
state/national media and public opinion influences with the true facts about beef
production. If you are a CCA member, you may contact your current local association
president for information on becoming a CCA committee member.
Research and Education:
CCA works with
industry organizations to support pertinent research and disseminate results, conduct
educational seminars, and provide timely information to assist in improving
producers profitability. For instance, CCA works with Colorado State University to
ensure that beef cattle production, research, education and extension remains important in
the scope of higher education.
A Spokesperson for Colorado's Beef Industry:
CCA acts as the industry spokesperson for cattle producers in Colorado and works with the
media to improve the general publics awareness and understanding of the beef
industry.
In addition to working on its own goals and
activities, CCA works with many other groups such as the National Cattlemens Beef
Association, Colorado Beef Council, Colorado CattleWomen Inc., Public Lands Council, and
others to meet common goals. Membership in CCA gives producers a link to these other
groups and their strengths.
Membership in CCA is strongly encouraged for anyone interested in not
only the beef cattle business, but also for those interested in helping protect
agriculture.
