Each year the Colorado Angus Association honors two breeders worthy of recognition as a Pioneer Breeder and Promoter of the Year.

The Pioneer Breeder award is presented to a long time Angus breeder who had made a lasting contribution to the cattle industry. The Promoter of the year award is presented to an individual who has promoted the Angus breed in an outstanding manner and been instrumental in furthering the Colorado Angus Association.

		Colorado Junior Angus Association Objective: To promote Angus cattle through Angus-related group activities. Membership is open to all youth under 21 years of age who own at least one Angus animal. Officers: President, Britney Creamer, Montrose Vice President, Theresa Craig, Fort Collins Secretary, Janna Litzenberger, Longmont Treasurer, Ashley Docheff, Longmont Reporter, Amanda Grilli, Erie Adult Supervisors: Jeni Grilli, Erie; Angie Sinclair, Fort Collins; and Van Swanson, Holyoke. Premier Exhibitor: This award is presented to the CJAA member who has achieved the most participation points. 1997: Brenten Litfin 1998: Jessica Van Ness The Colorado Junior Angus Association sponsors an annual event on a weekend in June. This event entitled, The Golden Trend, includes the following activities: individual classes for registered Angus steers, heifers and bulls, speech contest, poster contest, a dinner and fun activities Friday evening for all and a barbecue and awards ceremony on Friday.
