The
Junior Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (JCCA) was organized in 1950 to
provide an opportunity for younger members of the Colorado beef industry to
socialize with their peers, learn more about the industry, and become
involved in a leadership role. Membership in the JCCA is available to youth
ages 8-25.
|
The main objective of the Junior Colorado Cattlemen's
Association (JCCA) is to stimulate interest and acquaint
Colorado's future livestock operators with Colorado's livestock
industry and related organizations. |
The JCCA is
completely self-sufficient. All operating funds are raised by the JCCA
members themselves through raffles and other organized fund-raising
activities.
Scholarships
The JCCA
awards academic scholarships yearly. For information or for an
application for any of the following scholarships, contact the CCA
office.
One
scholarship is awarded to a student attending Colorado State University
who has a major or minor in an ag-related field of study.
The
scholarship program also includes a scholarship made possible by former
CCA President Oley Kohlman and his wife Grace. The Oley and Grace
Kohlman Scholarship is awarded to any JCCA member attending college in
Colorado with a major that somehow will impact the agriculture industry.
This scholarship has made a difference for many agricultural youth who
otherwise may not have had the opportunity to receive a college
education.
Again this
year, a $500 scholarship, sponsored by Purina Mills, will be awarded for
the 2002/2003 school year.
Contact Jared
Koch, at (303) 431-6422, for scholarship information.
