NWSS Producer
Show
Held
in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the National
Western Stock Show (NWSS), the Colorado Cattlemen's
Association (CCA) Producer Show and Sale showcases some of the best
cattle in Colorado. The show and sale will be held on Wednesday,
January 18, 2006 at the NWSS Livestock Auction Arena adjacent to the
stockyards in Denver. This year marks the 19th year CCA
members have marketed commercial heifers through the show and sale.
The
100th anniversary atmosphere will be prevalent during the
show and sale and is sure to pull in buyers from throughout the country.
What better way to market and promote your operation’s heifers?
Entries are open to any CCA member or affiliate, but anyone can
participate in the festivities and sale. There will be prize money
that will be split (50-30-20) to the winning pens. CCA also will
award a sterling silver champion belt buckle to the owner of the grand
champion pen and the NWSS will present banners to the
owners of the grand and reserve champion pens. Entries must be
Colorado cattle, born in the fall of 2004 or in 2005, weighing not less
than 500 pounds and consigned by an active CCA member(s) or CCA
affiliate association. Pens must be comprised of ten open heifers.
No limit on number of pens. One alternate per pen is allowed, and
must sell with the pen. Each entry of open heifers must be
accompanied by a veterinarian’s certificate stating they are open.
Heifers entered in this division cannot be entered in any other division
of the show. Cattle must be sold if shown.
A
non-refundable entry fee of $50 per pen will be charged.
Exhibitors will be assessed a three percent sales commission and yardage
expenses will be charged at cost. Cattle will be judged on
soundness, quality, confirmation and their usefulness as replacement
heifers. Cattle will also be judged unfitted. Grooming to
remove manure, mud and bedding is acceptable. Cattle may be sold
without having been shown. The National Western Stock Show will
provide judges.
Deadline for entry is December 9.
A complete schedule will be included in the November
Cattle Guard. For more
information or a registration form, contact the CCA office.

CCA Age and Source
Verification Template
With
beef export talks on the table, and agreements imminent, age and source
verification is becoming a key issue to beef producers. As a result, CCA
has developed a template for age and source verification, to assist
members in developing their own verification procedures.
CCA
will also electronically scan members completed documents to a PDF or
Word file, for efficient and neat record-keeping.

The Colorado Cattlemen's Association
(CCA) is the state's only nonprofit trade organization exclusively
representing Colorado's beef producers.
Founded in 1867, CCA is the
nation's oldest state
cattlemen's association. CCA serves its members by speaking out on
behalf of Colorado’s more than 12,000 beef producers. CCA works closely
with state and national legislators, agencies, media and consumers to
promote the cattle industry.
Members take pride in CCA's ability to achieve results for Colorado’s
cattle producers. Cattle producers join CCA voluntarily and manage it
cooperatively, working together to accomplish goals that no single
cattle producer could reach alone.
Just take a look at what CCA accomplished in 2004 alone.
