David G. & Lucille S. Rice Legislative Internship

Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) is accepting applications for the David G. and Lucille Rice Legislative Internship. This internship will work closely with the CCA Executive Vice-President and CCA legislative liaison to learn the Colorado legislative process. The internship will be located in Denver, CO and is available either on a full-time or part-time basis (preference given to those seeking a full-time internship) from January through May.

Responsibilities:

  • Track, summarize and analyze legislation of interest to the CCA
  • Attend committee hearings
  • Assist in preparing testimony
  • Prepare legislative summaries and analysis for CCA member information and action
  • Develop association written comments regarding state and federal issues
  • Other additional tasks as assigned by Executive Vice-President

Requirements:

  • Desire to learn about the Colorado legislative process and legislative issues which affect Colorado beef producers
  • In good academic standing
  • Colorado Resident or Attending a Colorado Academic Institution

Compensation:

  • Up to $3,000 per legislative session for a full-time internship (proportionately less for a part- time internship)

The David G. & Lucille S. Rice Legislative Internship is granted in honor of the over fifty-year commitment to the cattle and livestock industry of Dave and Lucille Rice. Dave Rice served as Colorado Cattlemen’s Association Executive Vice-President from 1949 to 1981 and is the only person not to have held elected office to be recognized with a plaque in the Colorado Capitol building.
